Reading Your Eyewear Prescription

Understanding The Numbers

Have you ever wondered, "what do all those numbers on my glasses prescription mean?", You're not alone. It may look like another language, but those numbers are easily decipherable with a little help! Your prescription indicates the type and extent of your vision problem. For example, the spherical error (SPH) refers to how much correction you need if you are farsighted or nearsighted. If you have astigmatism, you'll have a cylinder number indicating how much lens power you need to correct blurry, distorted vision.

Multifocal Eyeglass Prescriptions

If you need reading or multifocal correction, you'll have an ADD (additive power) number on your prescription. And just for clarity, those “+” or “-” signs you see scattered around those numbers tell the expert interpreting your eyeglass prescription how much correction is needed.

Your Pupillary Distance Number

Ordering glasses online also requires your pupillary distance number (often referred to as PD), or the distance between the pupils. We need this information to make sure your prescription is located in the proper area of the lenses for the frames you select. Check out our guide for how to read your prescription.

Prescription Glasses FAQ

If I don't have my prescription on hand, can I submit it later? Within what time frame?

You can submit your order without prescription, but we cannot begin to process an order until we have your RX. You'll be prompted by email to send our support team your prescription shortly after completing your purchase.

Can I use insurance? FSA? HSA?

We aren't currently affiliated with any insurance companies. However we can provide you with an itemized receipt so you may request reimbursement from your insurance company, or your FSA or HSA.

How do I order prescription glasses online?

Easy! You'll select the frames and lenses you want, then upload your prescription and purchase!

Can I buy just the frames?

Yes, you can purchase just the frames by contacting support@gloryeyewear.com.

Can I order multiple glasses with different prescriptions?

Yes, but you will have to place a new order for each one.

What do I need in order to place my order?

You'll need a valid, signed copy of your eyeglasses prescription and your individual pupillary distance (PD). Your PD is the distance in millimeters between your pupils and helps us center your prescription correctly in your frames.

If you are ordering with a progressive prescription we will need a photo of you wearing the glasses you are purchasing. You can do this by first ordering a home tryout kit.

How do I order non-prescription glasses?

Through roka.com and simply do not select to upload your prescription. You'll receive an email from us shortly after your order asking for your prescription, so please just respond to that and let us know you don't need RX.

What differences (if any) will there be for stronger prescriptions, in terms of processing time?

The current turnaround for a stock, single vision RX with no mirror coatings will be 3-4 days. If an RX requires a semi-finished lens blank the turnaround will be 5-6 days. If the RX requires a mirror coating the turn around will be 7-8 days.

Can I cancel my order?

No, once an order is submitted with the prescription, we cannot make any changes.

I entered my prescription incorrectly! What can I do? (before the order is fulfilled vs after it's fulfilled)

All prescription needs to be verified before fulfilling. We will reach out to you if we believe there is an issue with the prescription. If you've already received your order and feel that something is wrong, please contact us.

Can I get an itemized receipt for reimbursement?

You will receive an itemized receipt upon purchase which can then be used for reimbursement.

We can't find products matching the selection.
